If you ask me I rather spend two hours on a plane going to Siesta Key, Fla than two hours driving to Ocean City. The water in FLa is worth the trip alone! Warm blue-green and white sand. There are basically all the same amusements and attractions anywhere in Fla then O>C....but I understand the cost factor. Also, for kids you can feel safer about the quality of the water in FLa, vs. any north eastern point break.

There's nothing wrong with the water quality in OC- any more than the rest of the planet.

I actually am well versed in marine biology, and do know for a fact that the toxicity levels in the water are higher up north

Not true. Just tired of people being a drag about it. I get enough of that attitude from people here in Ohio. (sry)
Thank you for wishing me a nice vacation - it's very much appreciated.

That's nice, but I've been going to OC all my life and have never had any problems. I have sadly noticed over many years the declining cleanliness of the Chesapeake Bay.

Alright, kitty kats - so I have returned from Ocean City, MD and just wanted to give a report, as I said that I would.
We stayed at Days Inn Oceanfront on 23rd on the 3rd floor (oceanfront room). The view was great, the location was awesome and we had a blast!
The water was not filled with trash or dead bodies or creepy unidentified objects. It was chilly upon entering but after you dove in, you didnt even notice it. The beach was clean minus a few broken pieces parts from sand shovels at the end of the day. We encountered friendly people and the food was great as well.
We went down towards 3rd street and the ferris wheel. Quite crowded. Thrashers fries were yummy!! We also tried Polish Water Ice - which turned out to be good and the 7 year old quite enjoyed it.
After shell-searching the one morning, we wandered around a few blocks and found Happy Jacks. Completely random neighborhood place with good breakfast food, awesome service (I believe her name was Susan) - we were quite pleased.
Phillips Crab House on 20th & Philadelphia was great. The boyfriend loved their blackened tuna. The buffet was like $29 (!) - we will do that the next time. Jonah & The Whale on 26th had a pretty good buffet. It was $26/person which isn't much less than Phillips.
We also discovered an italian restaurant on 16th & boardwalk called DaVinci's. Their salad was crazy good as was their eggplant parmigiana and the rest of their food.

So, overall, it was an awesome trip!! The drive wasnt bad at all either. We will definitely go back and I will recommend it to anyone interested in a fun, beach vacay.
I have included some pics for viewing.
Again, thank you to all of you who helped out with answering my questions, offering sugggestions and sending out well-wishes for us to have a good trip.

*O, btw....we went to Assateague Island. Went swimming at the first beach and then drove down to the second but stopped on the way to take pics of a horse. KILLER mosquitos!! Didnt get the memo and ran back to the car like I was being chased by Michael Myers or Jason lol!

Nice report CityGrrl and great pics!!! Had to laugh about Assateaque and the mosquitos; we had a similar experience on the mostly-deserted Portsmouth Island off the NC coast with biting, green flies. Once you crossed the first oceanside dune it was like a scene from The Birds.
