Safe areas in Annapolis? (Severn, Severna Park: townhomes, to buy, good schools)

Hi,

I'm looking at relocating to Annapolis for work, and am trying to do some research on areas to buy a property in the $320-$360k range, absolute max $400k. Have seen a quite few townhomes around that range, in various communities and areas, but don't know anything about them. Mentioned frequently subdivisions have been Conte Gardens, Annapolis Overlook and Mariners Point, and the Eastport area of town.

I am married with a baby and am trying to find a reltively safe and walkable part of town. I will be working at the Mall and would prefer not to live too far away (20-30 mins max in traffic). Any ideas would be most welcome, thanks!

Cape st Claire, Severna park or Arnold would all be good choices for you. Good schools and a safe place to live. You can find some single family homes or town homes for that price.

I second Chap's suggestions. Cape St. Clair might work perfectly--it's an nice community with water access. A bit eclectic with most houses built in the 70's, I'd say. I think you can find homes in your price range. Most of the streets don't have sidewalks but it's still "walkable." About 20 minutes to the Mall.

Severna Park is nice but is pushing your 30 minute commute limit during rush times. Not many single family homes in your price range but a townhome might be doable.

Being that you work at the Mall, you can also look out toward Crofton (that's where I am) About a 15 minute straight shot to the mall down Route 450. Good schools, safe. Townhomes in your range.

Thankyou both; Pricewise, Crofton does look very good. I'm flying up there from Tampa this weekend with the family for a look around the area, will make sure we at least drive all these areas.
