Still any part of Maryland that borders DC needs tons of work, though there have been major improvements. My dentist works in Adelphi and Capitol Heights, and prefers Adelphi, but he is near a post office that runs 24/7 with gaurds in Capitol Heights in the business region making it more tolerable.

I'm sorry, I must disagree. PG county has very little to be desired - higher crime rate, lower average income (compared to Howard/Montgomery Counties) and a close proximity to the not-so-nice part of DC.

Better yet have you ever lived in P.G.? If you have your probably had a bad experience. Often time when one has a bad experience they are overly focused on the negatives and not the positives. All I'm asking is to be fair.
LMAO. No one has to be "fair" & "balanced". We are not supposedly objective news people. If facts or opinions are positive and/or negative its each posters prerogative to post the facts or opinions that they want. If they can't prove their opinions with facts then it makes them less credible but it doesn't require any degree of fairness. People can say what they want about PG county, negative or positive. There is plenty of negative and that's what makes news and catches people's attention. It's up to each individual who reads the posts on this forum to make up their own minds about whether to believe positive and negative facts and/or opinions.

expgc you are right the negative parts are what makes the news and you and others a like form your opinions based on this solely and have not encountered the real life of PG county. I really feel like I repeat myself over and over.

Yes there are bad parts and yes there are good parts but to suggest that all is bad is and error on the posters part.

Anyway, never had any criminal act happen towards me and I live down the street from the PGC jail. Grandparents lived in the same house since my mom was in high school and they never had any problems.

I emplore anyone who wants to know what the real PGC is about, come out and check for yourself, because a lot of posters here are biased.

I don't like in PGC(I live in Milwaukee), but I was in DC a few weeks ago. I visited Hyattsville and Seat Pleasant since I'm moving to a fire house in one of those cities by January. Seat Pleasant seems to be one of the really bad areas of PGC.(I want to be in a bad area because that means a higher call volume) Even there I walked around alone without feeling threatoned. I was the only white boy around until I got to the fire house and I didn't even notice getting any weird looks. I minded my own business so they didn't care.

Amen! I've been saying similar things since I joined this forum. This to me, should not be tolerated on a forum.

Prince Georges is my home. It is offensive to me to continue to read something negative almost every time I log onto here. I was raised here and educated well. Probably better than most of these negative posters.!

If people are going to keep posting and telling untruths about how safe some place is then others have the right to say it is not As far as I'm concerned if there is a thread and it asks "How Safe is this area or that area"then I have the right to tell them, like it or not.Telling someone to check with the local police is not offensive .As has been told to me....if you don't like what's said ....go somewhere else.

You yourself have said something negative about certain areas of PG and also what would have happened had that "thug" not known you and it ended much differently...when people come on here asking about areas they open themselves up to get all types of info which is what I believe they want and if you have positive things to say that are true, great but don't knock those posting negative things. I admire your honesty in your previous quote below. I certainly would want someone to give me the good, bad and ugly about a place if I was considering moving there and this would be enough to make me not want to go there.

The community is nice. Landover is not. I lived in Landover most of my life and recently left. But it depends on who you are. Unfortunately, my move was because my children got into trouble with so called gangs. If you are raising your children to stay out of trouble they get picked on.

Like I said, it really depends on who you are. A thug I grew up with pulled a gun on me last spring one night and when he realized who I was he just said "oh, hi" and moved on.

To the two above posters: I NEVER SAID THAT THE COUNTY WAS A SAFE PLACE TO LIVE! I don't misrepresent nothing! I am about honesty and truth and thank you for saying that fjennel. I DON'T KNOCK PEOPLE POSTING NEGATIVE THINGS!!!! What I have a problem with is the point blank statements: "don't live there. don't buy there. you couldn't pay me to live there", etc. etc. etc., and the list goes on!! You know what I'm talking about so don't try to contradict me.

I was raised in this county and have experienced crime. Having my vehicle stolen from Landover Mall on the day before Christmas Eve was a nightmare. Other things have happened.... in my life that I don't need to post here. All I'm saying is that this county is very urban and certain things come with it. I've made a good life here and will continue to do so.

Prince Georges County is currenly in a transition phase. Test scores are up in the public school and most of crimes involved residents from DC. Developers, Hope VI grants, and Mayor "Bowtie" Williams pushed the ghetto out right to the county. The closing of DC General is the main reason why the PG hospital system is in the red. However as new projects and housing comes the pipe the cost of living will rise and move the hood again.Where will they go? Maybe B-more. Crime does not stop it just moves to different areas when the demographic shifts. In closing PG has inhertited crime and poor education from DC over the last 5-7 years not from the "Barry Boomers" that moved to the county in the 80's and 90's.
