How is Poolesville , MD. to live in these days?
How is Poolesville to live in these days? Is it still a nice safe area? How would the commute to the Bethesda Naval Hospital from the Poolesville area? Im just guessing that River Rd is just a zoo during peak traffic times , but I'm also thinking that the commute might be worth it for peace of mind living in a nice , safe community. I would love any views on this especially if you live in Poolesville. Thanks in advance.

I didn't see any replies to your post, so I was wondering what your status was? Did you move to Poolesville anyway? And if you did, do you like it? How is the commute?

We used to live off Route 28 in Darnestown and my daughter rode horses in Poolesville. It is a faily isolated bedroom community. You basically have River Road or Route 28 for transportation and, yes, traffic is heavy. You also have a lot of Virginia-bound cars heading to the Ferry that pass through Poolesville every rush hour.
We lived in Darnestown until 2001 so this may be a bit dated. At that time, there were lots of Montgomery County Firefighters, Police and school employees because of the relative affordibility of housing yet still in Montgomery County. At that time, it was not particularly racially diverse but I know it has grown a good bit.
One of our neighbor's had a son who was in the science (maybe ecology?) magnet program at Poolesville H.S. and loved it. Other than that program, I think the high school is fairly average.
There are not a lot of entertainment options so travel in toward Gaithersburg/Germantown is necessary beyond basics. There was a nice place called Bassetts, but I don't know if it is still there.
Good luck.

Hypernormal. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad but it's a great word!
