help is Arnold, MD OK?
Hi, can anyone share information about Arnold MD? It's near Severna Park and Annapolis and my family is considering moving there. Any information about the neighborhoods, schools etc would be approeciated. We are trying to find a single family house and not pay too much while still being in a good school district. It seems that things are either out of our price range or if it is in our range the schools are not good.

Arnold is a good area and is close to Annapolis. Townhouses range between $325,000-$500,000 and single family homes are $375,000 to $5,000,000. The high school is Broadneck and is one of the better high schools. It also has a great football team. The elementary schools and middle schools are pretty average--not fabulous but not bad either. Anne Arundel Community College is located in Arnold and is considered one of the best in the nation. If the homes are in your price range, I would recommend Arnold.

aacps.org is the school district site for you. I believe your high school would be Broadneck. Very nice area. If you're Lutheran, the Gloria Dei church is awesome!!! It's right near AA Community College. We live near by, daughter goes to Severna Park schools. Annapolis is close enough to the area that even in moderate traffic, you won't be too far. Hwy 2 to 50 runs pretty smoothly into Annapolis. I'd be careful to check out areas in Annapolis, not all are as great as they sound. Greatschools.net should be only one resource you look into, and I highly recommend that you tour a school during school hours to compare the info you find online. It's the one thing I wish we had done.
Stay away from Glen Burnie and Pasadena.

Hi! I am also looking in the Annapolis area. Do you like the Severna Park schools- my kids are in elementary.... Is kindergarten full day, or half? Do the kids have recess? Are they allowed/ encouraged to come home for lunch/recess?
Thanks for your help!!!

Yes, I do like SP schools. There is a marked difference in both the school and the students who attend. Unfortunately with a child who's just entered high school, I've found that you'll find a disappointing public school teacher anywhere you go, at some point during your child's education. BUT... in comparison, it is by far the best. My daughter was transferred there after a violent attack at the school in our district and we have been 90% happy with the difference.
