Rockville or Arnold
My wife and I are both nurses...two little ones... 2 and 1, boy and girl. I want a place that is less humid, with a better public education system than where I am from, SC, where we are now. She is from PA, and wants to be closer to home without the cold.... what do you guys in Maryland think?

Rockville and Arnold are two totally different places! Rockville is more congested and in the middle of the action so to speak where as Arnold is more laid back and quiet. I would think there would be better job opportunity for nurses in Rockville as opposed to Arnold. I am not sure about the school system...Anne Arundel County Public Schools would be Arnold and Montgomery County Public Schools would be Rockville. I believe Montgomery county used to be thought of as one of the best school systems in Maryland but now, not so much I am thinking. I think for Anne Arundel that crowding in the schools would maybe be a concern. I overall prefer Arnold living to Rockville. I hope this helps!

For nursing Rockville is definently the much better option because of the number of hospitals close by. the schools in Mo. County are better then Anne Arundel but not by that much and both should be better than the average school system in SC. basically it comes down to this. if you like city life better and wouldn't mind paying more for a house. go with rockville. If you like less congestion cheaper cost of living the outdoors and even sailing (chesapeak bay) go with Arnold

If you choose Arnold, Anne Arundel Medical Center is a great hospital. Also, there are many doctor's offices in the area. It's a great place to raise a family away from the rat race of DC. You'll have to get used to liking water activities though.
It is true that Rockville will offer more job opportunities, naturally, since there's greater population density.

Rockville is a great location, especially if you have access to the Metro. You can work in many hospitals in Montgomery county or commute to DC using the Metro.
However, if you plan to buy, the cost of read estate will be higher than Ann Arundel. You should also consider Howard County since you can go up to Baltimore (U of MD, Hopkins), as an option.
