The two most upscale shopping areas in the DC region are Tysons Corner & Galleria in McLean, VA and Friendship Heights in Chevy Chase, MD & D.C.

Tysons is a shopping mall whereas Friendship Heights is more of downtown shopping area. Tysons has more selection, but Friendship Heights has more upscale brands.

I would also add Fashion Center at Pentagon City, the Shops at Georgetown Park, and Mazza Gallery in NW DC.

For great deals on stuff I would say:

1. Potomac Mills, in VA
2. Arrundel Mills, in MD
3. Outlets in Leesburg - outdoor outlet in VA

Arundel Mills is far from Upscale... I agree, Tysons is probably the best as far as upscale... Leesburg outlets at least has nicer outlets than say the Queenstown ones, although some of the newer stores could be considered upscale...

Tysons and the Friendship Heights / Bethesda area. Those are probably your top two. Georgetown in DC has a few nice stores, but not exactly a mall per se. Pentagon City is going downhill as more upscale places get replaced.

There was recently an addition to the Annapolis mall that added a few nicer stores you don't find here or there.

Anyone want to take a stab at a full list of just malls. What order would you rate these?

Tysons Corner
Tysons Galleria
Chevy Chase Pavillion
Mazza Gallerie
Pentagon City
Annapolis Mall
Montgomery Mall
White Oaks Mall

others?

Sorry, I should have added a note that the outlets I noted aren't even close to upscale.

Sunil's Dad subject reads "Upscale Shopping", but the message reads "where can a family go shopping for nice clothes". I figured those outlets would be a good place for a family to go to get good deals on nice clothes - but of course they're not upscale at all.
