Family friendly md? Where should we live
My family and I are moving to MD. I have accepted a position in Bethesda. We are looking for a family friendly area (rural?) with affordable homes. We have three little girls and a two year old son. We have heard good and bad about so many areas there, we have no idea where to look or what to do . Can anyone help with suggestions. We really appreciate the help.

The rural areas of Maryland are at least 2 hrs away from Bethesda due to traffic. You might want to look at hagerstown/Frederick/La Plata,White Plains.

You are right but I have hear from a lot of people who live around that area and it is getting developed. I have hear that Frederick which used to be considered rural is now getting more of a city feel same goes for Hagerstown.

Family friendly (but not so rural), Woodmoor area of Silver Spring. Affordable, Northwood Village area of Silver Spring, near Woodmoor. Elementary and highschools nearby.

Silver Spring is far from rural. Silver Spring is more of a city feel then rural feel. The area is developed.
The poster is looking for rural areas.

Re-read my post. I stated that the Woodmoor area of Silver Spring is not so rural. Now re-read the OP. Stated "We are looking for a family friendly area (rural?) with affordable homes". With rural in parenthesis followed by a question mark indicates to me that 'rural' was not a requirement, but a preference.
If you plan to jump on every poster because their suggestion does not precisely fit your opinions, watch this forum dry up.

I am just clearing up your post so the poster and you understand that NO part of Silver Spring is Rural and Silver Spring is not classified as rural and if you think it is then you have never been to rural areas before because Silver Spring is 100% city with no rural feel not even a small bit.
Rural is La Plata,Hagerstown,Frederick.St Mary County. YOu are the first person I have ever heard of who mention any part of Silver Spring as Rural.
Silver Spring is city with city feel where you do not need a car to get a round because you have metro and the area is over developed.
