Smile Severn? Crofton? Jessup?

My husband has been re-stationed to Fort Meade and I have heard pretty lousy things about Meade High School, therefore, we are looking for renting outside the base. We are a family of four with pets moving from rural upstate NY....Anyone have any opinions about the "best" (or the worst!) places to live/bring up a family???
We are completely clueless about whats available past what we've found on the internet. We have found rentals in Severn, Jessup and Crofton..Greatschools.com say Croftons best, then Severn, the Jessup....
Please give me your thoughts!

Greatschools.com is right. Crofton is the best choice out of the three. THere are some nice areas in severn as well, but I would avoid Jessup. It is not a very nice area.

Highly agree. You can tell a lot about an area by its local elementary, middle, and high school.

Out of those 3 I'd say Severn or Crofton, I live in Severn and my kids go to great schools.

Hi, we will also be stationed at Meade next year and have been told to look at Severna Park schools. I have not personally been to the area but have been told that Severna Park and Arnold have some of the best schools in the county. Check them out on greatschools, you will see that most are 10s with some great parent reviews. Again, I have not been there yet, so I am only going on what people have told me.
Of the 3 you mentioned, I have been told Crofton would be the best.
good luck,
Michele
