We are from Pietermaritzburg, KZN and you? My husband was offered a great job at the Naval Academy so that's why we're coming to Annapolis. We have pretty much decided to live on Kent Island just off Annapolis - Stevensville appears to be a small villagey type place so we're looking into rentals there at the moment. The schools are good as far as we can tell and we're not big city kind of people.

We are moving from South Africa and are looking to feel safe - should we rather stick to Arnold or could we find somewhere safe and not too expensive near a good elementary school, the Academy and Annapolis EP Church? Any thoughts?
OK now we are thinking Stevensville or Chester on Kent Island. Anyone got any children at schools there? What can you tell us?

We have lived in Annapolis and currently live in Connecticut. If you prefer small, village-type towns, I highly recommend you spend some effort looking into Connecticut. Annapolis is a pretty place to live and visit but the entire region of DC and Baltimore has millions of people that love to swarm Annapolis, both visiting locally and heading to Ocean City on the eastern shore, on weekends and holidays. The traffic can be a nightmare, especially around the Bay Bridge and the Severn River bridge. It is common for traffic to back up for miles, waiting to cross the Bay Bridge on the Annapolis side.

In contrast, Connecticut offers low key living in many areas of the state. We have lived in CT for several years and love the state for many reasons.
