Default Traffic in Frederick

I am moving to the are to start a job near Francis Scott mall, I was thinking of Living in Montgomery Village, Gaithersburgh. I have heard there is a traffic problem in the city, I was wondering if that extended down 270?

You will definitely be going the opposite direction of the majority of traffic on 270...most people go from Frederick to MoCo or DC. Why are you looking at Mont Vill and GBurg? Neither has a good rep any more and the Frederick area has much cheaper housing than either. Prices are high in both but Frederick is still the cheaper of the two.

This is true for normal commuting times. However, if you work any non-standard shifts [eg. start work at 3pm] you could encounter some pretty wicked traffic.

not bad at all, unless you have unusual shifts like the above poster said. But Why live in Montgomery county?

I drove from Gaithersburg, through Fredrick, to Hagerstown, this morning at 8 am. All of the traffic was going the other way. No problem at all.

Traffic is nuts by any standards anywhere. Try to find a place close to work, and walk, bike, or take the bus. Otherwise you will too often be staring at hundreds of taillights, wondering why you decided to do this.
This Texan finds East Coast populations too dense to be sanely navigable. Fortunately I spent 6 years overseas and have the intelligence to figure out public transportation, and the fitness to use my legs on bicycles and sidewalks. It beats trying to drive with a bunch of homicidal/suicidal stress addicts who think it's OK to text or talk on a cell while holding the dog in their lap. While piloting an automobile.

I wish I was kidding.

Montgomery Village. . . ah, I have a close friend who has been trying to sell her TH for over a year there but she can't (maybe because it IS overpriced) but also maybe because it IS in Montgomery Village. . . this area has declined over the years severly. Buy with caution.

I re-read this post and noticed you going to the mall area. That area is south of the city. You don't even need to go into the city to get there from 270.
