Default Hyattsville vs Seat Pleasant

Just wondering what everyone thinks about these two cities. What are the differences. I currently live in Milwaukee, WI. If I don't get hired by Milwaukee Fire Department or DC Fire Dept in the next 4 months, I'll be moving out to work with PG Fire Dept. As some of you know, PGFD is a little different. Its a mix of volunteers and career guys, yet it is still one of the best and busiest in the country. I'd be living in the fire house. I'll probably bring my car, but would like to rely on the Metro, which is why I like these two places.(located across the street from Metro stops) Right now I'm leaning towards Seat Pleasant due to their higher call volume and the way things are run there. To my understanding, it's one of the most crime ridden places in PG County. So just any basic information would be great. Thanks.

It is one of the most crime ridden places but Hyattsville and surrounding area is crime ridden too. If I had to choose one over the other to live it would be Hyattsville. But since you want to choose based on the higher call volume then Seat Pleasant will do it for you! You won't be bored at all.

Default seat pleasant

SP is so ghetto! i used to live in a neighboring city called capital heights. not sure if it would be an easy transition from milwaukee. hyattsville has some rough parts but is larger and has some wonderfuls neighboorhoods. I would recommend hyattsville anyday. both of these PG cities are getting worse daily, because there an exstension of D.C.

Hyattsville is changing for the best. The county is putting big dollars in Hyattsville you the city is getting higher income people. The county has already build a brand new Art district which consist of upscale condos,shopping/dining so you might find very small to zero crime in certain areas of Hyattsville.
I know of a doctor couple who move to Hyattsville and love it there. They think it is the best thing next to white bread.

But Seat Pleasant I do not think the county have proposed any new developments in Seat Pleasant so since you want crime then Seat pleasant it is.

I live in PG county and love it but I do not I would move my family to Seat Pleasant.

If you really want very high crime try Baltimore City. I bet you will never sleep

I assume you meant sliced bread???

Hyattsville has some somewhat decent older neighborhoods. The new arts district was mostly empty when I drove through there a month or 2 ago.
If those are your only 2 choices, I'd go with Hyattsville.

You are so right sorry. I forgot the quote and almost wrote organic honey wheat bread just kidding.

I do like Hyattsville. Everywhere is empty as far as shopping right now.

I wonder why. Off topic but I went to whole food last week for grocery shopping and spend over $100 dollars on fruits/Veggie/juice/yogurt/eggs. What the hell? I see why no ones cart was full except ours.

As a matter of fact PG county will have a whole foods and I can not wait. I know in my community most of my neighbors also shop at whole foods.

When I went to the one in Annapolis it seems majority of the folks their can not afford whole foods. Our cart was the only full cart in the store. I paid attention. Most people picked up a few items while we packed our carts.

I live in PG county and I can afford whole food so why are you judging the entire county.

I am 100% living in PG county and I can afford to shop in Whole foods.

I only feed my family Organic fruits/Veggies/Meat/Eggs/cheese/yogurt/Bread/milk/juice anything else I purchase at either shoppers/Food Lion.

The Shoppers close to my home have a large selection of organic things which I do sometime purchased.

How can you judge someone's wallet by the color of their skin.

Seat Pleasant is not too good, however it is in very close proximity to Wash. D.C., so at some point in time that area will go through a transofrmation. That is prime land for an easy commute.

Just out of curiousity could you post where it will be? Have you been to MOM's (My Organic Market) in College Park?

Back on topic: I would choose Hyattsville, but I don't have the same concerns that you (the OP) do.
