There are many threads about Hagerstown on this site. Try to search 'Hagerstown" in the search option at the top of the page.

I did, I only found one small post, and then mine. If anyone has any info I would appreciate it. The city detail page looks really nice but the homes on Craigslist don't look so great so I am a bit confused. Is it really a picturesque little town or a run down out of the way pit? Maybe in between?
Thanks

http://www.hagerstownmd.org/ Is it this? http://www.hagerstownmd.org/Photos/photo-019.asp (broken link)
or
http://westmd.craigslist.org/apa/893936141.html (broken link) is it mostly like this?
I'm hoping for the first pic's, it seems like a cute little town.

And is there a Home Depot near by?
Is it ok for children, safe school?

Hagerstown overall is pretty safe and stable community. There is some blight and bad spots downtown that are best avoided, but there are plenty of nice neighborhoods as well. Washington County in general is a mix of urban (Hagerstown) suburban (near South Mountain and surrounding Hagerstown, and rural (everywhere else.) Most people seem to think it is a good place for children and families.

Hagerstown does have a Home Depot, located off I-81, close to the I-70 interchange. I don't live in Htown, but it has lots of shopping, an older mall, and is close to PA border. There is also a fabulous outlet mall on 70. Sorry, I don't know anything about the schools, but this link should help. In MD, schools are run by the county, not individual cities. Welcome to Washington County Public Schools. Hope this helps!
