Default commute from Severna Park to Ft. Meade

Hi,
I have been told that Severna Park is a great place to live with kids due to the excellent schools, low crime, etc... How is the commute to Ft. Meade? I know it less than 20 miles but I am wondering how many minutes is the commute in rush hour?
I was also told to live east of Ft. Meade because the traffic won't be as bad as to the west of Ft. Meade. Is this correct?
thanks so much,
Michele

A neighbor does that commute and usually leaves around 7am and gets home around 4:30pm - he's never complained about the commute. Hope that helps!!

Forgot to mention - with your budget, you could get a house in a neighborhood called Shipleys Choice which is actually in Millersville, MD. The community has it's on elementary school with a 10 rating - highest test scores in the county, I think (maybe second in the state or something like that). After that, kids go to SP Middle and Sp High. There is a community pool, walking paths, tennis club also. Just a thought!
