Default Frederick Area

Hi everybody,
I've been reading about the various areas of frederick and which to avoid.

I was wondering specifically about South Street, between Bentz and Market. How is this area?

I'm moving for a 3 month job and am looking for just a small safe spot to call home.

I'm having a hard time getting a short term lease so if you can offer any insight into that also, itd be great

Thanks!

As a rule MArket st to Benz is the nicer side, but South St happens to have proximity to the housing office at South St and Market so sometimes it has more stragglers than other parts. Anywhere within walking distance to MArket has advantages as being close to restaurants, and other shops, so for 3 months, this would not be a bad place to be

What about some sort of extended stay motel - I think there is one on the west side of town, off Rt. 85 and Westview shopping plaza. If it's only 3 months it may be your best, though maybe not your cheapest, option.

South Street is in a run down area. That being said, run down in Frederick city is 180 degrees different than run down in Baltimore City. I think you'll be o.k. Just stay alert. Since your situation is so temporary and this seems like your best option I think you just need to stay aware of your surroundings and make the best of it.

South St isn't that bad. Just looks dumpy. Downtown Frederick is a joke. I walked all over downtown for years.

Ask a police officer if you want to inquiry about the happenings on South St.

downtown's a joke? really? explain.

South St. Isn't bad at all. it's no 3rd street but it is no Hillcrest at all. it's very decent.

Yup, I don't really understand that comment either, Billiam. Maybe filmsniffer means in comparison to Boston or Chicago(?). For a city of 60K, Frederick's downtown rocks.
