Default Hagerstown?

Hey all. We're planning on moving our family from Glen Burnie to Hagerstown when our lease is up here in 11 LONG months (LOL). Can anyone give me an idea about the general area, things to do with children (3 and 4) and good eating spots? We're going to be around Dual Hwy. near Colonial Park it looks like.

Thanks

Though I lived in Frederick for 8 years I didn't get up to Hagerstown much, other than for the outlets and buying/servicing my Honda (Hagerstown Honda is great, BTW). I did go to the community college for some free children's music programs once a month that your children would enjoy. Eating?? Hmm, I'm not sure. Locals would be better with that info. I know that Hagers Crossing is a whole big box development right off of I-81 near the 70 exchange that has all your big box names and a bunch of chain restaurants.

Also, Frederick is 25 miles to the east and has a lot for families to do that you can drive to. And a million local restaurants right downtown on the main street (Market/355).

Hagerstown has a lot of the same shopping as Glen Burnie. The do have the outlets though. We moved from Pasadena to Falling Waters WV last year. I do most of my shopping in Hagerstown since we are right on the line. Hagerstown should be a lot cheaper than Glen Burnie. If you are looking to buy you might want to come across the WV line because property taxes are much cheaper than Maryland.

As far as the kids, there is a chucky cheese by the Valley Mall. I know of a pool that you can pay by the day in Williamsport and when the kids get older there is a bowling alley and roller skating ring also.

Hagerstown is more rural than Glen Burnie. The community is more conservative, more religious on the whole, and has a higher percentage of natives than Baltimore County. That being said, Hagerstown is growing, and many parts have that generic suburb vibe that is prevelant downstate.
There will be less nearby indoor activities, but loads of outdoor recreation. Hagerstown is just a short distance from numerous parks in the Catoctin Mountains.
