PHIL 4 SHORE is on a distinguished road
Dark Horse.
Visit Queens Annes County which is across the Bay Bridge from Annapolis. It's a little further from the beaches, but most of the year the beach communities area dead. With the Chesapeake Bay and all the rivers to pay, and easy drive to Balt. Washington & surrounding communities you would have a better pay scale & more choice of jobs with all the spending that will be taking place in Washington for government. Nite life year around would also be much better. But you would have a more country life style while home.

I would consider Frederick, Md. It's a nice place to raise kids and a quieter kind of life. The closer you get to Baltimore and D.C. the worse things seem to get- i.e.- crime, overpriced housing, etc. Mt. Airy, Md. is nice too.

Ocean City is 80% tourists and transplants that's why it's so dead in the winter. The reason the locals are cranky and not that welcoming at times is because alot of people come down on vacation and throw there trash all over the place, get stupid drunk, act disrespectful, start fights, and act like everyone owes them something because there on vacation. Just remember when you leave they're the ones who have to look at your trash you left behind and or clean up after you. You would get tired of it too if it happened in front of your house you lived in all your life.

It's the same basic idea here on the eastern shore except people move here to get away cause it has that "small town appeal". But once you get here and realize what country livings all about it ("slow" as I'm seeing people refering to it as) doesn't quite resemble the magazines you read. You get all high and mighty and start calling us (Locals) rednecks, inbreds, stupid and whatever other rude names you have for country folks. Start tail gating everyone and driving recklessly because we're to "slow" or because you think that you're more important than everyone cause you own a $60,000 car (So what we have $200,000 combines how would you like it if we did it to you?). It gets old after a while. I've done a decent amount of traveling and I've found that when visitng someone elses town on vacation you treat them with respect and usually get the same in return regardless of the demographics. It's that simple. Show respect and most times you'll get respect in return. I just don't get how some people come here and treat locals like they're straight out of the movie deliverance. I'm willing to bet if we visited your big towns we wouldn't be acting ignorant. The eastern shore is filled with very generous, caring, friendly people. Ok we maybe slow but that's how it is here if you don't like it move elsewhere just because you bought a house here doesn't mean things are going to change. Although like anywhere else we have ignorant people as well. So please don't judge all of us for those who act ignorant.

Just be friendly go with the flow and don't be disrespectful. And I'm sure you'll meet some good people.

And to the people passing through on the way to the beach for vacation on Route 50 east.
Please don't use the backroads or sideroads. It's not going to save you time trust me your surrounded by water you can't avoid 50 you'll be right back on it and probably have lost even more time. All it does is make our short rides to the grocery store, two or from work take two hours. ;0)
