Web site to search homes by high school in Mo County
Hi, I am having a hard time figuring out which area/zip is assigned to which high school while searching for homes in Montgomery County. I cna figure out by individual property address through the school district website but I would like to do a overall search by high schools. I was able to find a website which does that for Virginia.
I would appreciate any ideas/suggestions.

The boundary locator - which does require an address - can be found at
Division of Long-range Planning
The following site will allow you to see the boundaries for individual schools:
Department of Planning and Capital Programming
Some of the boundary maps are better than others; I agree that Fairfax and Arlington provide more useful maps. According to the MCPS web site, there are "map books" available for review at Montgomery County Public Libraries, but MCPS does not publish the information on-line because it does not own the copyright.

Thanks - I have looked at those websites but they dont really help me understand what city/zip search I should plug into realtor.com to do a search.
I am looking for homes which are part of the following high schools:
Thomas S. Wootton High School
Richard Montgomery High School
Winston Churchill High School
Walt Whitman High School
Walter Johnson High School
Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School
Sherwood High School

You could start perhaps by plugging the zip codes of these high schools (which are available on the MCPS site) into realtor.com and see if the listings on realtor.com specifically identify the assigned schools for a particular house. You can also find the neighboring zip codes for any particular zip code on city-data.com itself. A large number of the realtor.com listings for houses in the suburban DC area identify the assigned elementary, middle and high schools.
Do not, however, rely on the "GreatSchools" listings of schools that sometimes accompany the realtor.com listings. This information typically identifies schools that are close by, but these are not necessarily the assigned schools.

For those areas you can start with 20895, 20815, 20814, 20854, 20852, 20850 and 20860. Unfortunately this will also give you some schools that aren't in the cluster. Good luck

To the best of my knowledge, I do not know of any website that will allow you to search for homes by high school. Part of the reason is that Realtors are not required to include the school district, and often choose not to due to the potential liability of being incorrect.
You can search by zip code, but school districts are not necessarily broken down along zip code lines, so this isn't 100% accurate.
Your best bet is to ask a local realtor for a direct IDX feed from the MLS for communities that are zoned for those high schools. A realtor can break the search down by subdivisions that are zoned to the schools you want and give you the most accurate search return possible, given your criteria.

Found it!
FranklyMLS.com Virginia & DC MLS via Keyword Search & Wiki. Homes for Sale
It seems to be a beta site but pretty much meets my needs. It is easy to do a broad search based on a school and of course you can always double check the individual properties from Mo County school district site.

Unfortunately most Real Estate agents don't list the school names since they aren't supposed to steer people to a specific area or neighborhood based on schools. This may limit you to only those listing with the school identified. I did a search for my school district, knowing there are at least 15 houses available and nothing came up.

I am faced with the same issue, needing to narrow down neighborhoods by the schools they feed into, and I think you should start by narrowing down that list to 2 or 3 preferred school pyramids. There really is no search engine out there that allows you to plug in the school and then show which homes on the MLS are in that boundary. Your best bet is to use ZipRealty in conjunction with Schooldigger. You can select as many cities as you want w/in MoCo and after some time, you'll get a feel for which zip codes have the best schools.
Good Luck!
