Harrisburg?
Chip72,
I am looking at a job in Camp Hill. I am a 3o year old professional that likes the larger cities but rather be in the country. My job has kept me in larger areas though "Va Beach" "Baltimore" Would you advise this area?
Thanks

Camp Hill is a nice borough in the Harrisburg area. It definitely isn't country, but it isn't city either. Most of the borough is fairly walkable (except crossing 32nd Street, aka US 11/15).
If you want to live in a more country setting, you could shoot for Silver Spring Township west of PA 114. You'd still be less than 10 miles from Camp Hill, though the traffic would be a bit rough to/from work. Another possibility would be to look at areas south of Mechanicsburg not far from US 15; they'd also be within 10 miles of Camp Hill.

I am thinking of moving my family wich includes three school age children, to the Eastern shore of Maryland (Ocean city, Berlin area) .We are moving from (Filthadelphia)Philadelphia.I am seeking a slower more family oriented place to raise a family, where people are friendly and wear their pants at waist level with their hats facing forward rather than cocked to the side. Is anyone familar with that area in Md?

Waynesboro is a small town a bit south of Chambersburg PA. I have only driven through it a couple times, but it looks nice. It's more expensive than where I am since it's closer to the MD line.

My husband got a Army Recruting position in Pa but our homebase is Md, his commute each day will be over 2hrs he has t rent a room on the nights that he he needs to work late and is too tired to get home , he wont be able to seek a transfer back to md for 3 yrs thats if there is a available spot, Pa was the only opening for a recruiter , We will see less of each other becuause of this ,What town would be closest to the Md/ Pa border to possibly cut down on the commute if we do decide to move and how long would it take from the pa/md border to baltimore county ( overlea area) i still will need to travle back to md on a everyday basis.

I just rented an apartment in Columbia (am from north-western PA) and I have to say, driving around, although Columbia is beautiful, I do prefer PA to MD. I can't say this with firm resolution (I move in next week) but just from driving around, I do like PA better for exactly the reasons stated above! MUCH more interesting views out the windows, little shops interspersed everywhere, and definitely not as much overcrowding. So, at this point, I'll stick it out in MD for a year and then at this point I'm thinking of looking in PA for somewhere to live! I'll be working right outside Woodlawn, MD, so the commute won't be the easiest but from Google, it seems a town off of I83? would be my fastest option? Anybody know any of the little towns down that way???

Pa vs md? ...Maryland wins
I don't see how this "overcrowding" thing everyone talks about is such a bad thing. When you live in urban/suburban areas there's much more to do, much more amenities, and much more job opportunuties (that don't have a 3 hr commute). Yeah, MD is expensive but so is every other densely populated metro area in high demand (for eg. NJ or CT). Maybe it's my age (22), but I couldn't live anywhere where your closest neighbour is 2 miles down the road, and the only retail is the mom and pops' in town.
On I-270 I see by far more Pennsylvania plates than any other state (except MD of course) and I wonder how people can day-in/day-out commute that far. I see a lot of WV too. I commute 30-45 min and never hear the end of it from my friends about my daily tortuous journey.
Oh yeah, I hate the Steelers...

I'm the same age, 22, and I do prefer PA (see post above yours). Though, except for college, I've lived there my whole life. I'm also not really used to this much over-crowding. Yes, where I live, it's the suburbs, but half the town is farms.
I'm extremely close to everything where I live too, b/c I'm only about 10 mins from the city (Erie). However, b/c there is nothing GIGANTIC around us for 2 hrs travel time (Cleveland, Buffalo, Pittsburgh), and probably b/c we also have the lake on the other side of us, it feels like there is PLENTY of room to breathe. I didn't feel that when I was in MD. But hey, haven't lived there yet so maybe I'm wrong. Not to mention, it seems like driving to a grocery store, or any other store in MD seems to be an arduous trek of 20 mins or more. Is that truly the case??? Another plus, where I am now, everything's within 10 mins of me or less, which is pretty much the same nomatter where you live by Erie.
Edit: I forgot to mention, I hate the Steelers too, lol.....def love my Patriots, Browns, and Bills though!
