My sister and I checked out the Cedar Lane School in Fulton yesterday. We were both impressed. Moving to Howard County is a definite possibility. I know Columbia is in Howard County and it made the list of best places to live. I know as it is a bigger city there will be areas to avoid. We are going there tomorrow to check it out. Are there any other places in Howard County to avoid? Thanks everyone !!

I moved to howard county and staying in temporary acco for last 2 weeks. So far I have identified as places to avoid are areas around rt.1 in elkridge and jessup and laurel. Also i would stay away from owen brown village in columbia

Agree.
Rt 1 / Washington Blvd, is a highly traveled, industrial commercial area.
If you travel 1 down to Jessup you can get a picture view of the the prison.

The 29 corridor in Howard, being Columbia/Ellicott City is very nice.

Some parts may be sketchy at night, but some are nice.

What they mean by sketchy is seeing two 15 year old-black or latino kids walking to the 7-11 wearing jeans and sneakers.

How about pretending you aren't afraid of your own shadows? Stop crying. You'll die from eating crappy fast food thrice a week before the notorious Howard County thugs, Javier and Devante can jack you on your way out of Chi-Chi's.

Well I didn't wanna come out and say it but thats probably it and I've met people who work in those alleged "sketchy" areas and their some of the nicest folks I've ever met in my life. Thats why my jaw is on the ground because I've been in those parts and never had one problem.

I grew up in Howard County. The only place I didn't like there is Long Reach and that area in Columbia. It is scary over near the hospital too at night.
