Best Chinese in Rockville
My family is new to the area and wondering what the best Chinese restaurants are in Rockville or Bethesda. We are coming from the New York area so we have fairly high expectations!
Thanks for any recommendations!
P.S. - I thought I'd typed Rockvillian as my screen name but maybe we are ROCKVILLAINS after all!!

It's very depressing to be honest. If you find something you like you'll be lucky, but 'authentic' Chinese (i.e. not Kung Pao Chicken) is rather mundane in the DC area.
The one that is getting the most buzz right now is in Odenton (BWI airport). Grace Garden has all the food fanatics making road trips up there for big feasts (eventhough the place is pretty small and ambience rather 'meh'). If you go off hours you can talk to the chef (speaks Mandarin & Cantonese and a bit of English) and have him cook something you like off-menu. Some dishes require 48 hour advance noticed (like the Tea Duck, and Wintermelon Soup).
Anyway, grab Sing Tao Newspaper at the groceries, and the free 'Washington Chinese News' and check out some of the ads. Joes Noodles, Bob Noodles, and the new hotpot place next to Kam Sung supermarket are some of the usual suspects, but if you are expecting something like the Chinatowns in Manhattan or Flushing you're going to be pretty bummed.

Thanks for the feedback! It sounds as if we should keep our expectations low and hope to be pleasantly surprised.
In any event, even though we've recently arrived from the NY area, we're not total foodies. And we hear that the Thai and Vietnamese options are probably better in the DC area than in Westchester....

Full Key both in Wheaton and DC is also decent. One of the few places that carry wonton soup Hong Kong style.
For Viet - food, Eden Center in VA.
For Viet Pho - Shadygrove Rd, next to Bank Of America and Pho 75 on the pike

I can't imagine you finding better Chinese restaurants here than in New York, but the best one I have found in Rockville is the Seven Seas restaurant. A little hard to find, but wow... they have really good food. You can also try A&J restaurant if you want authentic Taiwanese food, but as I remember it, they only take cash so be aware of that if you go there.

i have heard of two places that are highly rated, though I have not tried them yet. One is Bob's something on Washington st near downtown, and the other is on 355 a couple of lights south of Rockville Metro. I've heard so much good about them that I plan to try them. Sorry, I can't remember the full names right now.
