Default RE: Living in Owings Mills, MD

Anywhere in the Owings Mills New Towne Area is reasonable safe. If you have to live in Owings Mills then that is the place to live. But I recommend elsewhere. The shopping selection is horrible. Most of the reputible stores have closed up shop and shoplifting, vandalism and robberies have increased within the vacinity of the mall during the night hours especially. Customer service in a lot of the area businesses are horrible and unwelcoming. I live in Owings Mills New Towne and I'm ready to get out of here. There seems to be a real lack of pride in ownership within my neighborhood and a lack of respect towards others. I had a friend who lived in a condo off of Lakeside Blvd and he complained of the same. If you can afford the commute, I would recommend going Northwest a little further into Carroll County. Housing is much more affordable, crime is much much lower and car and homeowners insurance premiums are about %30 less.

I am in a condo in OM and I like it, except the fact that it is a condo and I have kids (thus the reason we are moving). There are apartments here too (some considered to be in Pikesville). Check out along Reiserstown road near McDonough Rd.
