I wouldn't live in Glen Burnie. There are so many more options around Glen Burnie, if you have school-aged children. Go south towrds Severna Park, Arnold...nicer neighborhoods and better schools, IMO. Pasadena is decent as well. I lived in Pasadena for 2 years off of 100...farmington village.....we had our own pool, tennis courts and walking paths.
There are a lot of great places near Severna Park Middle school as well....

It all depends on budget though as you won't get anything in Severna Park for what you'll spend on a house in Glen Burnie. Arnold isn't too bad but it's very pricey and being over run with 55+ communities and nursing homes.

As I've learned through real estate purchases though, locaton is the key. You will see much more appreciation in Severna Park than you will in Glen Burnie. You can get a very nice house Severna Park for $450,000.

We just moved from Pasadena, we wanted a little bit of a bigger house but to afford it, we would of had to give up something (ie, garage, basement). The whole area cost way too much.

After a LOT of driving, searching and picking our Realtor's brain, what we wanted in a home and what we could afford led us to the new townhome development by Lennar and Ryan called Tanyard Springs. We drove by all hours of the day and night, various days of the week and couldn't find anything wrong or any "bad" things going on. We also spoke to some of the residents in the complex and they said they love it! Our daughter is only 2 and I am a stay at home mom so I don't have to immediately to worry about school or daycare. By then we might move on to a new home/town, but for now I'm pretty confident we made the right choice.

Shanni -- Glad to see that you've found a place to live!! Moving can be such a pain! I saw your post for a recommendation for a pediatrician. I LOVE ours (and the girls LOVE him too,) but he's in Catonsville which would be 20-25minutes away. If you want more info, let me know, but that's pretty far away, especially when your little one is ill. Good luck with the move and I hope you like living in Maryland. At least here you'll experience all four seasons .
PS -- the house I told you about in Severn went to settlement today so my friends who moved to Alaska can finally move into the house they bought up there!

I agree. Severna Park is a much nicer area that Pasadena though so what can you expect? I grew up in Pasadena in Riviera Beach and it's nothing like it was 10 years ago.

You can get alot of homes in SP for $450,000.00 bit you won't have a pool or a garage or a lot. You'll basically be looking at a 2 bedroom home from 1970.

Once again...wrong on that count. My House was built in 2001, finished very nicely inside, two car garage, the lot IS small, but it has a big soaking tub in the master bath, seperate shower, tiolet closet, Big deck on the back, etc, etc,....
We don't have a dining room....

Ive noticed in new construction that they're getting rid of dining rooms and going back to the old "sitting room" setting. Nobody wants a soaking tub anymore, everyone wants a jet tub. They're called "Garden Tubs" down here in SC. All of the lots for new construction are small anymore since every little piece of land in Pasadena is having a house crammed on it. I noticed my last visit to visit family in Pasadena that they're now tearing the trees out and building a subdivision off of Duvall Hwy across the street from High Point Elementary?...should make that intersection interesting during school let out. I also noticed that they're building that huge 55+ community on Mountain Road up by Anne Arundel Seafood and tearing the trees across the street out for $1,000,000.00 wooded homesites. As if Mountain Road isn't a hazard already.
