Default Suburban Baltimore (near Metro to JHU) housing feeler for mature physician

Hi gang,
Not definite, but hopeful chance of starting at Hopkins in July, so I wanted to be timely and ask about some housing leads. I just want to get a jump on this before the masses start thinking about heading back to the area for school, etc.

Late 30's, mature, single, newly-minted physician looking for quiet housing near the Metro out towards Owings Mills. Prefer suburban/rural atmosphere, quiet, sustainable living. Would also appreciate off street parking, at best (!) some garage space for automotive hobbies and am an outdoor exercise freak (mtn biker, tele skier, hiker, etc),
I'm a bit particular at 39 y/o. Really looking for a quiet and peaceful setting, not in an apt complex but attached to a house or similar. Will definitely sacrifice apt size for tranquil environment.

You may want to look into the Sudbrook Park neighborhood in Pikesville. It has a good variety of houses and is a recognized historic district. The elementary school it is zoned to isn't the best, but since you don't have kids I don't think it will be an issue. Welcome to Sudbrook Park Website Colonial village and Ralston may also be options for you as well. All three of these neighborhoods are very close to the Milford Mill or Old Court Subway Stations.

You may also want to check out some city neighborhoods. Mt. Washington ,Roland Park, Cheswolde, and Cross Country come to mind. Even though you're in the city, these areas are definitely not urban in character. Cheswolde and Cross Country are sort of close to the Metro. Mt. Washington and Roland Park aren't really that close to the subway but the drive to Hopkins shouldn't be that bad.

I recommend "The Brittany" apartments. It is right next to the old court metro station, with a private gate to the metro. It's quiet, safe and well maintained. They have special offers (although not much) for Hopkins members, and I heard of this apartment because of 2 Hopkins postdocs who currently live there.

You may also check at apartment ratings. It's a decent place.
