Default Eastern Shore schools....opinion?

I am in the Air Force, family practice doc, looking to get out next year and settle down on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The wife has family near Elkton and we want to come back to the East Coast.

My #1 factor in looking for a place to live (aside from there being a job available) is the schools. I don't know much about the public school system as far as the Eastern Shore is concerned, and need some advice on where I should focus my attention.

Default School

There is a lot of great websites you can use to find out...this is the one I like the best.

Schooldigger.com -- Search and compare elementary, middle, and high schools.

If you stay close to the Bay Bridge (Kent Island/Stevensville), the schools are more populated with kids. The further South, everything seems to be a little more dispersed.

We just moved from the Eastern Shore. I agree with the above. I would stay away from schools in Wicomico (Salisbury) or Dorchester (Cambridge) districts. The districts are having much difficulty.
Talbot County has a great district as does Caroline County and Queen Anne's.
We were very happy with our district in Caroline County.
You may want to also look at:

SchoolMatters - Home

We found it extremely helpful during our relocation. Unfortunately,we are no longer living on the Eastern Shore, but as I said, were very happy with the school in our area.

I am a graduate of the Caroline County Public School System and a bit biased. My mom is on the school board there currently. But the class sizes are small - I graduated in a class of about 125 and had opps that I wouldn't have had in a larger area. Shoot me a note if you have any other questions - happy to help!
