You should just start in Silver Spring and drive down Georgia Avenue. Silver Spring is very urban but as you get a little further away it gets to be much more suburban. You can try Wheaton or Aspen Hill. Neither of which are places I would want to raise kids but would be fine for a younger person. Olney is almost a stereotypical suburb, although it can be very expensive and there aren't many places to rent. Some of the "nice" suburbs in Mo county are Olney, Germantown, and Gaithersburg. Germantown and Gaithersburg are both rent friendly...
