YEOW!! Crime rate is arising in PG County
 9 MURDERS SINCE FRIDAY!!
PG county is getting back on pace with a 43% rise in murders.
This is the CBS website but the local channel, WTTG, spills it out realistically.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/...n1517114.shtml
The guy that was holing himself up in a house today(Thursday) in Forestville is now dead.
March Murder Madness??
We still have over 8 months left in this year; I want a carry permit and a dozen pit bulls for personal protection. If the PG police can't contain it I surely don't want it in my neighborhood. A dozen dogs is pushing the envelope as two would be fine.
Something folks should consider when bringing a pet into their home is the fact your new pet might want a friend on its own level. I never had a single fish of any one species in my 30 gallon aquarium. Animals are social creatures as are we. A cat and a dog can co-exist when we aren't always there to be their buddies. A geriatric animal is more receptive to a fellow pet than one that is young.
Old folks in a nursing home would like to have company more often than they do, so does your dog or cat.

I think it is things like this that is allowing neighboring counties to thrive so well (e.g. Calvert County, Anne Arundle, etc...). The people are just getting fed up with the bad they get from certain parts of PG.

ah, ah ah, sorry no pittbulls. They are banned in PG county.
I HATE breed bans. Most people couldn't even pick a pitt out of a line-up of bully breeds.

i agree. BSL is stupid on far too many levels. These breeds were of the most popular in america in the early part of last century. Petey. of little rascal fame, was not a fluke, he was representative of the dogs people owned. dogs depicted in most cartoons and comic strips of that era resemble the bullies. duh...i wonder why?
and why was an american flag draped around the neck of a bully and immortalized as the sign of strength, loyalty and bravery of the US soldier during WWII?
i have often maintained that no dog can carry a gun or knife, drink&drive, B&E or rape your daughter, wife or girlfriend. i don't care if it is any of the bully breeds. the kids in my neighborhood are far more dangerous than a pack of dogs. they steal, B&E, kill, do drugs, drive dangerously and anything else that the PG county police are never around to see. top this one...a clue no one could answer on the game show jeopardy was "Pit Bull". the answer? what is the most human friendly of the terrier breed of dogs?
something those in favor of and pass legislation for BSLs seemingly overlook is the 4 breeds of bullies that are most scrutinized, apbt, amstaff, staffy bull, and bull terrier....are different breeds among themselves. the staffy and the bull terrier are miles apart. spuds Mackenzie/target dog is the bull terrier, an amstaff with a different head. both of those are the largest and very people friendly. the short little staffy bull is known as the "nanny dog" - notoriously good with kids. the poor apbt, a good dog as well, has been poorly bred by those that don't keep their own breeding in check and crossed it with so many different breeds it no longer is the same as the first 3. who keeps check on this when it comes to passing these stupid laws?
that loser issac gourdine introduced got it passed in PG county in the late 1990s . its time to repeal it.

P.G. County is definetly a problem area in Maryland. But most crime seems to be concentrated around Suitland, MD and is normally realated to Drugs and Gangs. The police need to spend more time fighting the drug trade and gangs instead of issuing traffic citations and whatnot.

I wouldnt say all crime is concentrated around Suitland but rather around the DC border, all along PG county. Gangs arnt to big problem in PG except in Langly Park and some parts of the 20781/2 parts of Hyattsville. but yea insteed of pulling me over for a brake light out they should go solve some violent crimes.

Do you all know how many police officer we have in the county? I believe 1400-1500 on the force. That is not a lot at all. Considering the counties population is 850,000+ So yea your not really going to see them take a big dent into this crime wave. They can only work with what is given to them. I wish they could expand and higher more individuals but, that is supplied by us the tax payers. The way things are going on in the economy I don't know how many they can higher. I did a ride along with P.G. county during the summer. Wow, the people that they have to deal with and the foolishness they have to put up with. I have developed a new found respect for the county police. I guess what we need to ask is how can we better support the police? From gangs to theft to downright murder the county effective planning by the county, hiring more officers, and fed up citizens is the only way to lower crime. Hey look at D.C. at one point in time they use to average 400+ murders. D.C. Was the murder captial of the country for a long time. Now it's gotten better and they average 180. Still not low enough but much better. Thanks to action taken by the gov't the Police department and concerned citizens D.C. is mad drastic improvements. This is just an example of what needs to take place.

I wouldn't neccesarily pinpoint illegal immigrants as the main problem. As long as I have lived in P.G. (27yrs) I have always known P.G. to have issues with crime. I do believe it is increasing. I believe that the latin gangs are a part of the problem ,however there was mess already here to deal with even before they surfaced.

Didn't the DC government just upgrade the areas and move the welfare bums and criminals out of DC and run them into PG? The numbers seem to indicate that this is what has happened if the murder/crime rates are increasing across the border. These bums and criminals have to go somewhere unless you start a program of permanently eliminating them. Some people say that they are now invading Charles county since PG has started upgrading bad areas as well.
