Question Germantown vs Gaithersburg ?

Hello

I have been staying in Germantown for the past 2 years and have really enjoyed staying here. The Town Centre and the library is really good . However now our lease is up and we are looking at moving from our current apartment to a bigger one. My problem is that I dont know whether to stay in Germantown or move out of it completely and go towards Gaithersburg ? I read the crime rate has increased in Germantown ( though never faced it as yet thank god !) .But I see a lot more thug looking characters even near the library now ! We were thinking of moving to the Park ( formerly the elms )at Kingsview village . Has anyone ever stayed there and faced any problem ? OR should we move to the Kentlands / Lakelands area ?

Both have good and bad areas, but the Kentland/Lakelands area is much nicer, and hence much more pricier than Germantown.

The area around the Park/Elms at Kingsview is one of the nicer areas in Germantown. My company leases short-term rentals for relocation at The Park, Seneca Club and the Pinnacle at Town Center, and we've haven't heard anything negative about these places; one employee decided to stay at Seneca Club after their short-term lease was up.

We moved out of Germantown because of the crime increase in the 9 years we lived there, but I agree with tercel95, the crime is about the same in both Gtown and Gburg, as both have experienced an increase in crime. The Kentlands does have a good reputation though compared to others in the area. A friend of mine moved to a townhouse there after her divorce and she hasn't mentioned any problems.
