Prince George County Upper Marlboro?
My DH will know this week if he will have a job with MNCPPC. The office is in Upper Marlboro and we are looking for property in the area. We have two children who would continue being homeschooled or perhaps go to private school. We'd like to stay within 20 miles of the office to cut down on drive time. We love Whole Foods and have found a lot of property within our budget in Riverdale. So any suggestions or comments? Also suggestions on short term lease houses, condos, apartments etc start date will be the 2nd week in April.
Thanks

Riverdale is not one of the safest cities in PG County, and there is no Whole Foods in PG County. Most of the the best private schools are found in other nearby counties. Take it from there.

The nearest Whole Foods is in Annapolis. I would prefer living in Upper Marlboro -- there are a variety of price ranges there. And there are good private schools in PG. How old are your kids, and what is your price range?

Your best bet is to live in Anne Arundel County, and consider South River due to its proximity to Upper Marlboro (PG Cty) or Edgewater.
South River has way better schools, and very close to downtown Annapolis including Whole Foods (Annapolis Harbour Center). You won't find that kind of retail/shopping in PG that you will find in AA County. There's even a Trader Joes a bit north of the AA Cty Whole Foods.

You could also consider some areas in Northern Calvert County, which has some very good schools. Towns (areas) like Dunkirk, Owings would be within your commute. Sunderland and North Beach / Chesapeake Beach would be slightly further (25 minutes maybe) but would give you more options. However, it is quite rural.

I agree with this. Calvert county is a great place to raise a family... I know you mentioned private school but the public school system in Calvert county is top notch...

Calvert County is in the sticks though, and for sure, they don't have a Whole Foods down there...maybe plenty of farmer's markets.

There is a Whole Foods in Alexandria, about 10 miles from Upper Marlboro, much closer than Annapolis.

If you live in northern Calvert County then you are not too far away from the city. I personally avoid DC like the plague but it is an option you might want to consider. They also just opened a whole foods market in North Beach...
