Default Apartment walkable 2 Silver Spring Metro

I'm looking into Silver Spring as my next place to live as I (like pretty much everyone else) can't afford DC.
Is it possible to find a 2 br under $1400 walkable to the Silver Spring metro? I don't need something with valets, concierge, or a brand new complex. Any suggestions?
Also, I feel that this area is generally slightly cheaper than say, Alexandria. Do you think this is true?

Marilyn Emery is on a distinguished road
It depends on what you consider walkable. You should be able to find something in your price range within 1/2 mile.

1/2 mile I can handle. I'm only 20 and don't have the budget to be pickier haha.

You'd probably be looking at a 10+ minute walk in one of the older complexes.

Works for me. Have the older complexes been pretty well maintained? ie not falling apart? I don't need/can't afford all the unnecessary things that come with "luxury" apartments...just need someplace clean, secure, and w/out management that will fleece you. Any places you recommend and conversely, should stay away from?
