Default Silver Spring? Kensington?

Hi All,

My husband, kids and I are moving to the area this June -- we're currently stationed in the UK. I've been looking at rental houses in the area and found one that I like, but am unsure about the area. I read a lot of mixed reviews on here. This house is on Norris Drive and although the owner calls it Kensington, I think it's actually Silver Spring. The zip is 20902. I know this is an older area, and I don't mind that as long as the house is in good shape, but does anyone know if this is a safe area. (I have a 7 year old son and an 18 year old daughter.)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The area isn't the best but I think it is safe. The schools aren't the best in the county. what are you looking for as far as a rental. There is quite a bit around.

Thank you for your reply, Marilyn. We're looking for a 3 or 4 bedroom with a finished basement. A good elementary school is a top priority. Quick commute to Bethesda Naval Medical Center and under $2500 are also important. Should I be checking in Virginia, too?

Thanks again!
