Question Commuting to DC and High School in Poolesville, MD

It's been awhile since I've seen information on Poolesville. We're considering a move there and have a high school daughter. We live in a relatively small town in Ohio now but I work in Washington DC. Here are my questions:
How's the commute to DC - driving vs. public transportation? I'd prefer public transportation.
How's the high school? Strong academics? Strong music? (daughter plays bassoon).

Thanks!

Ride-on Bus 76 to Shady Grove and take Metro from there. It's 40 minutes to Shady Grove and roughly 30 minutes on Metro. This doesn't include waiting time, which during the rush is short. It would take longer by car on most days.

It's LONG. Poolesville is "off the grid" so to speak in Montgomery County, MD which is D.C.'s neighbor. It's a small/country town that hasn't been affected by urban sprawl due to distance and the hassle to get there. Map out the route from Poolesville, MD to D.C. and pan the map around. You'll see what I mean.

Poolesville barely has any public transportation. A car is necessary.

No idea on schools.

Default Re: schools

Poolesville High has a magnet program which is excellent.

You can go to this link Compare Maryland Schools & then put in Montgomery for county and you will see how the school rates academically.

Hope that helps.

Poolesville High has been pretty highly rated. As far a public transportation it will not be easy. The closest public transportation is the metro in Shady Grove or the MARC train. I don't know where in DC you work but you can expect your commute to be over an hour.
