Default Michigan Transplants - Annapolis v. Fairfax???

We are relocating from Michigan in July and are having trouble deciding where to live. My husband's office is based out of DC, but he sometimes works in Arlington and other days in New Carollton (sp). I am finishing law school and would prefer to take the MD bar exam (but have no commitments yet one way or another).

We have 2 small children and fell in love with the Annapolis area. We found 2 great houses to rent in Arnold. One was in the Indian Hills subdivision and another was near Broadneck H.S. My husband is leaning towards VA though (because of the commute). There we found a great place in Fairfax. Both places have a completely different "feel" to them.

The deciding factor at this point is the commute to DC (for my hubby). I am trying to get a feel for our overall quality of life. Thoughts?
