Direct TV and Dish
Anyone have any experience using direct tv or the dish network? We are moving soon to Cape St. Claire and currently have verizon fios. we really like it and i think it is available at our new place but I have been considering direct tv or dish network for tv and internet service. I am a little worried about losing signal if there is bad weather. Anyone have any experience with either service? good, bad, or indifferent?

Fios isn't available where I am in Maryland but we are Directv users because they are the only ones with the NFL package, which is a must have for us. As for losing signal, that really only happens in very heavy rains. High definition is a little more sensitive but all and all it is really only an occasional lose and they are almost always very brief.

I disagree, when I had direct TV, I would lose a signal in high or low winds, rain (not neccesarily storms either), if the trees had too many leaves and would block the signal, etc.
Also I have found that direct TV internet services is not as fast or reliable as Fios. But true, Direct TV does have the NFL ticket, but they are also more expensive than fios and comcast

I travel full time , have had Dish Network , just changed to Direct tv , many problems with Dish. Happy so far with Direct . As to the internet , I have found the best to have is Sprint -Broadban card for the computer, if you have many computer users in the family then use a router with the card in it to operate all the computer's thru wireless signal.

We have the Verizon/Directv combo. Very happy with DTV. In four years we have rarely lost the signal. Heavy rain or snow mainly. Had Comcast before that and would NEVR go back. We use the Verizon DSL and it has been reliable. We're considering a switch to FIOS, but as I understand it once they cut the copper wire you're stuck with them for good (or bad).

Had both,
First we had DishNetwork for about 3 years, for whatever reason we switched to DirecTV. While it was ok, after 2 years of that, we went back to DishNetwork. Three reasons: First, we felt customer service was a little better, although not terrible with DirecTV either. Second, we liked that they had a European Language Package, BUT most importantly, we hardly ever lose signal but with DirecTV we didn't need a proper thunderstorm and it was gone every time.

Never had DTV, so cannot comment.
Had DishNetwork for a few years (because of a foreign language package they offered) before switching back to cable. Lost signals happened frequently with Dish, and my interactions with their service department were very discouraging. There were frequent billing errors, all in their favor. And our last refund, when we canceled our service, took forever and many many phone calls.
