We are looking for a great place to relocate on the Eastern Shore also. Easton is looking good to us also Berlin. Look at greatschools.com Lots of good info. This site (minus forum will give you a ton of info on any city anywhere.) Blessings on your search.

Close is relative. Easton is on the Chesapeake, there are Bay beaches but they are different than ocean beaches. I don't know if you've caught this but the Eastern Shore is a much slower paced lifestyle. Yes, there are malls relatively close by, in DE and Salisbury, but the Shore is very rural. Even Ocean City off season is only 10,000 people (300,000 on a summer weekend). Great if you're used to being rural but not so much if you're not. You have to plan your trips to the grocery because going back for that loaf of bread is a pain. SoMD and the Shore used to be very much alike but over the last decade we've gotten bigger (I liked SoMD better then, by the way).

Very informative North Beach person,Thank you for the response. My family and I are looking for a slower pace of life,In a family oriented area.Sounds like the summer will take some getting used too.But I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too.Do you think 20 to 30 minutes out side of Ocean City ,MD. Such as Berlin will also be as hectic to deal with during the summer months? Is the traffic mainly a issue at certain days of the week such as a check out/check in, days? And hopefully manageable in between? Any other information that you can offer would be great. Thanks again.

Berlin would be doable, check my earlier response to get the official town info. Pocomoke City is west of Berlin, some friends of ours live there, and it's out in the middle of nowhere (not necessarily a bad thing). You will learn quickly when to avoid Rte 50 (Fri PM and Sun late AM into PM) and there are bypass roads. Every time we go to the Shore I tell my wife we settled on the wrong side of the Bay (although here was like the Shore 25 years ago).

We visited Easton this week, its a beautiful town. We loved Idlewilde Park area, what a great place to live near with kids. Oxford is awesome but too small with kids. Visited Denton and Cambridge also. Will visit Berlin next week. We love crabbing, fishing and the beach in that order. So we're trying to decide whats the best thing to do. We really don't know much about the crabbing in either area. Anyone have any thoughts about this. So bayside or oceanside????
