Did it about ten years ago from LA to CT. Don't leave anything in the car that is not bolted down.....car in transport can get stuff stolen!!! Take everything out. Ask about insurance
It probably will take 5-7 days if not longer. Get a bunch of quotes and ask about delivery time. Many places do not have set delivery time as it depends of total number of cars and where they are getting shipped to. I was stuck without a car for several days.... not good.
Also check to make sure you have big enough street to deal with large car transport trailer. Otherwise, you have to meet trailer several blocks away to get your car.

I recently shipped my car from LA to Baltimore and it cost me $681 using Dependable Auto Shippers. My extensive research showed me that they were the cheapest. I would recommend them.

After a LOT of experience with this, I can tell you that these people are the best:
Reliable Carriers - Automobile Transport, Show Cars, car transport
Reliable Carriers is as close to car transport perfection as you can find. And whatever you do, DO NOT use a shipping broker, who shops your order among thousands of truckers. Go with a direct shipper.

Had my car shipped from TX to MD, cost a little over $300 and took 6 days. Had to meet the truck off the highway since he couldn't get into the neighborhood. Was a good experience.
Make sure you do a walk-around before to note any existing dings or scratches , have the company or driver sign-off that they can't see anything else. Then do a walk-around when it arrives to compare. Should there be any damage you will have their signature that it was inspected before and damage was not found.

Another option is uship.com, where you deal directly with individual transporters, usually mom and pop type. Also if transported by carrier, request vehicle loaded on top deck. Many times when vehicles are on the lower deck, vehicles on the upper deck leak fluids, (fuel, brake, trans) etc. and can really mess up you vehicles exterior. Good luck

I am about to have my car shipped to TX. Which company did you use that charged you $300?

I can't remember but a car dealer in TX that shipped a lot gave me the info. Maybe you could find a dealer that sells to out of state. They usually find the best rate and company as they ship all the time.
