Default Student Moving to Annapolis

Greetings All,

I am a current resident of Eugene, OR, and plan on moving to Annapolis this Autumn to attend St. John's College.

I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice or direction regarding the best and worst areas to live (bearing in mind that I will, to a "T", fit the description of poor grad student) in Annapolis, specifically regarding crime, job opportunities, and easy transportation, as I will be biking my way around.

Thank you all in advance!

Post areas

Least safe is near Robinwood on Forest Dr. There is a nice condo community there called Annapolis Overlook that is unfortunately tainted by its location. Most of the rough areas in Annapolis are along Forest Drive.

Will you have a car? If not I would live as close to the college as possible. I've never used public transit in Annapolis and I think there may be a bus system? Probably doesn't run as often as you would like though.

If you live outside the city, most surrounding areas (Davidsonville, Crownsville, Severna Park, Arnold) are very nice.

Default Thank You!

Thank you very much for your reply. I have begun the formidable task of finding a place to live, and your information is quite helpful.

I do not intend to bring my car out east, as the cost would be prohibitive. I had intended to rely on public transportation and a bicycle, but admit that I do not know how feasible that will be in Annapolis.

Thanks again for your reply.

I'd recommend using Craigslist to find a shared house in the Eastport/downtown area. Don't go TOO far west on West St. or too close to Forest Dr. if you are concerned about crime. Biking should be pretty easy...you could bike 5 miles faster in Annapolis than you could drive 5 miles in DC

Have fun!
