The first one that caught me was on Schaeffer Rd in Germantown right before the intersection wit Richter Farm Rd (near the Soccerplex). I didn't see it until I was coming back the other direction and I noticed one on that side of the road, then I saw the one on the other side and I immediately knew it must have caught me. That one is near a school though (I think it's a Elementary or Middle School on Richter Farm Rd).
The second one that caught me was on Quince Orchard Road (124) near the intersection with Darnestown Rd (28) in Gaithersburg. That one was only on the Sbound side and was at least .5 miles from the nearest school, which is Quince Orchard HS.

Be very careful with the one on Quince Orchard Road. The Sbound one that caught you is a fixed pole speed camera, but they frequently put a mobile van speed camera on the Nbound side too.

That's a new camera put up in the past few months. I think it is closer to Ridgeview Middle School than to Q.O. H.S., but Ridgeview is on a side street. I'm not sure why they put the camera there, but maybe because people do go pretty fast there.

There are two speeding camera systems in the southern part of Montgomery Village. One is on Montgomery Village Ave on the stretch passing Lake Whetstone. It in my mind is the Swan's Camera because a White Swan that made the lake home was a hit and run victim where the camera is located. The other camera is on Watkin's Mill Road near the bridge that crosses Whetstone Run. It is cleverly located just beyond a curve so you don't see it until its too late. It is in a 25 mph zone so you can trigger it doing 35 mph.

There should be a website solely for travelers traveling to unfamiliar areas of the country, like on cross-country trips. Through these forums I'm gradually accumulating valuable data for if and when I travel somewhere in this country, places to avoid because of these photo radar cameras. Now I've got one more to add to my list under the title: Think Twice Before Going There!

montgomery county photo speeding tickets
Hi, I just got a speeding ticket last night via the photo in montgomery county and was wondering if someone could help me out. I am worried about not being able to receive the ticket so I can pay it off. Because I am here temporarily doing an internship, I have NY license plates and have my former NY apt on record as my address for my license. I guess my concern is how I will be contacted or sent the ticket so I can pay it off in time.
any tips? ideas? much appreciated

I recently got one of these tickets in Rockville and it was for 7 miles over the limit. 42 in a 35. Very annoying.

Then something is wrong. It's not supposed to ticket you for less than 10 mph over the limit.

Try Trapster® - Speed Trap Sharing System. You load it onto your GPS enabled phone and it'll tell you about speedtraps, red light and speed cameras. And each "location" is rated for confidence. The more people report it .. the higher the rating is.
