Default Elkridge area around Route 1

Wife & I are planning to move out of Baltimore into the suburbs. We're looking at Howard County, but Columbia & Ellicott City seem a little more on the pricey side. Elkridge seems nice...I really like the Ryan Homes @Belmont station. However, we're a little skeptical given the things I've been reading online (methane gas, industrial/truck stops, route 1, etc.) which may ultimately make it difficult for resale.

I know there a lot of newer townhomes between Route 1 & the I-95.

Anyone living in the area have any thoughts or guidance?

Thanks.

I was thinking about village towns in route1, I don't think it will hurt resale, belmont has a lot of amenities. But you have to think about the house and what makes it different from the others that exactly the same as yours.

I absolutely hate rt1 (I've been renting there for 2 years now). Have you driven though it? IMHO only nice Elkridge neighborhoods are the ones that border Ellicott City. There is no free lunch when it comes to Howard county.
