Default Moving to Maryland

Hi, I am in the process of moving from Philly, PA to the Bethesda area. I got a job at the Naval Hospital. I am completely unfamiliar with the area and want to know where a good place to live might be. Also, what commuting to and from work (hours are 7a-4p) might be like. I am not opposed to using public transportation. Also, at this time it looks as though I will be moving solo so I would like an area not too outrageously priced. Anywhere with some nice safe apartments?
