This type of business model will do well in a rural area of Maryland. Places near D.C. or Baltimore are very rush-rush suburbia.

Southern Maryland (Saint mary's county), Eastern shore near delaware, or western maryland (washington county or along the PA ling) would be idea areas for you.

Souther maryland and Eastern shore have more seashore type communities where western maryland has a culture in common with west virginia/ western PA.

Default would love this store

My family and I plan to move to the Elk Neck Peninsula area (Elkton side) and would love a store like this. There must be others in the area as well who would appreicate the charm this store would offer. In addition, you can serve alot of tourists visiting Elk Neck State Park.

The old Mom And Pop stores were great ! Wood floors, soda chest full of ice, and sodas in glass bottles, a fan with ribbons, sleeping dog, ice cream that wasn't loaded with pftzxlretyz chemicals. A 2 scoop cone for a quarter. And a REAL mom and pop. Big beefsteak tomatoes. I wish you luck, but most stores nowadays are full of flourescent lights, and high electric bills, overpriced candy, cancer sticks, booze. I remember the old pickle barrels. Five cents for a huge dill pickle wrapped in white paper. Anyway, don't you give up on the dream. I am all for the small country stores. I just don't like paying a buck fifty for a five cent candy bar. And there are way too many cloned convenience stores.

I agree, Elkton has so much potential for growth. The downtown would be so charming, if they would just clean it up! There is alot of money coming into the area, people are just spending it elsewhere !!!!
