Default Moving to MD commuting to D.C.

My wife & I are in the process of moving back to Maryland to be closer to our family. Were currently looking in Edgewater just outside Annapolis however, my wife is going to have to commute to downtown D.C. Can anyone help us out with any input on how long that commute will take during rush hour? Greatly appreciate any and all advice.

Could take up to 90 minutes, depending on when you go and whether there's an accident.

Wow really?! She would need to be in the office by 8:00/8:30AM leaving about 5:00/5:30PM. People have been saying between 30-45 minutes but I wanted to check on here and get some outside opinions. Does your estimation based on driving, the metro or both? Would you suggest any areas maybe a little closer but no too far from Annapolis (that's where grandma lives) that might be a little better sooted for the commute and have decent schools?

Yikes, downtown DC is a tall order from the Anne Arundel county. Rt 50 is painful and there seems to be an accident most days than not. I think 90 mins is a fair rush hour commute, and it will be worse in the afternoon. It can easily take over 30 mins to get to downtown DC from a close-in suburb. Maybe Bowie would be a better compromise...but I'm too sure about the schools there. I would concentrate more on finding a place better for your commute, and you can always go visit Grandma in the evenings and on weekends, when traffic isn't as much a concern.

Northern Calvert can offer you an easy commute into DC, an easy commute to grandma's in Annapolis, and you can check out the schools at greatschools.com...

The commute will still be pretty rough but in my opinion completely worth it to live in Calvert County...
