I was thinking of living in Hagerstown and commuting to Frederick, but while calling around, I found a 3 bedroom apartment in Frederick for $1100 and most of the apartments I found in Hagerstown were about $900.
I'm thinking that if both my husband and I were both driving into Frederick everyday, it would definitely killed our gas budget. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas? |

Alot of people who work in Frederick find cheaper housing north of the city in the little town of Thurmont, and in Jefferson and Berkeley Counties in West Virginia. The commute from Thurmont to Frederick is pretty easy, coming from West Virginia is a little harder since Harper's Ferry acts as a natural bottleneck. Sorry, I don't have any rent prices to give you, but I would recommend checking out these areas.

Hagersbush to Frederick is about a 50 mile round trip, plus pulling South Mountain. Yes, it would not be nice to your gas budget plus wear and tear in the car.
I agree with the other poster on Thurmont straight up Rt15. Nice area and not a bad drive. As far as Martinsburg, WV. Im from there and would not recommend.

I agree that Thurmont is a great little town. Very picturesque.

I moved from frederick, tho, I liked it there a lot. frederick has so much more to do than hagerstown, which is too far out, my opinion.

Stick to Frederick. Yeah it's a little more expensive, but there's MUCH more to to do there.
You may also want to look into Middletown, Emmitsburg, or Brunswick. |
