People who find Maryland beautiful need to go see the West, specifically Montana if I do say so

In all seriousness, Maryland is surprisingly pretty in parts, as are all the east coast states. I'd never move there for the scenery though... I'd move there for the excitement of the Balt/DC metroplex, culture, etc, but other places have better scenery, no offense.

Montana doesn't seem appealing to me, however. I mean, the ocean is like what? 1,000 miles away? I think the East Coast is one of the most scenic areas in the country. There's just something about it, maybe that historicism, or the variety in topography. You can go from Mountain to Ocean, Forest to Farmland, Marsh to Valley in no time at all. How many places can say that? Near none! I'm sure Montana is beautiful and all, but the East Coast (and specifically, Maryland) is just stunning. But of course, beauty is subjective is it not? So my vision of beauty could be quite different from yours!

I traveled Highway 2 across the entire state of Montana and stopped often at sites. It was a beautiful trip and I enjoyed Montana from the mountains/lakes in the western portion to the "big sky" and small prairrie towns in the rest. A worthwhile experience. But, I also enjoy Maryland's bay drives, 40 west is amazing, western Maryland, it's small towns, Thurmont and Catoctin Mtns., the canal, and yes, even Baltimore. I can't really say the scenery is better in either as both have much to see.

I would just like to take the time to tell you all that I found your state to be absolutely BEAUTIFUL on a recent trip there. I perused areas around Washington DC, Baltimore, Waldorf (?), and St. Charles (?) and we were just taken aback by the raw beauty of Maryland. You certainly live in a gem of a state!

Thank you very much!
Come back again some time.

Yup I agree Maryland is a beautiful state. I been here for a few years (moving back to Virginia soon) and it's got lots of variety. It's a smaller version of Virginia which is also a beautiful state (Virginia has better mountains tho ).

Well, more than half of Virginia is mountainous. Maryland only has two or three mountainous counties really and Virginia doesn't have the Chesapeake Bay.

Yeah, VA does have the Bay, or part of it.

The Beauty is there, it has some gorgeous buildings even in the so called ghetto..they just have to be restored..I live in Charlotte but when I see the buildings there I am in AWE..and also in the midst of the gutta you can see the beauty of the city..if people just took time to clean it up and that means EVERYONE from the penthouse to the ghettos..and the rainbow of people makes you appreciate HUMANITY as a whole..not the stereotypes of being human...I agree Beauty is everywhere..one mans trash is another's treasure and am sure for some of us..there are some people in your past that could say that you are the Ghetto of mankind and not the Penthouse that you proclaim to be..so be careful who you put your mouth on...the city has Tarnished Beauty..people still exist there so it is never too late to restore..I am moving to Maryland from the South and I am sooooo ready...it is a different world there..

I agree that Maryland is beautiful! We visit my brother in Havre de Grace often, and have traveled throughout Maryland over the years. Sure, every state has some "not-so-beautiful" spots, but focusing on those distracts from the attractive spots and does a disservice to the entire state.

Even the highway rest stops in Maryland are attractive! (Can't say the same for the rest stops on our NJ Garden State Parkway, unfortunately.)
