I grew up in NY so I'm accustomed to snow storms and really cold winters.
I am relocating to MD this summer and would like to know how much different is the weather there compared to a northern state like NY. The summers as well how hot is the yearly avg. I just think the heat and humidity here in FL is too much for me.

Depends on which part of MD.

Hot and humid in summer generally, high 80's.
Mild Spring and Fall.
Most Winter days are above freezing.
Where I am first frost typically last of Oct. or so, many times not until Nov.
Worst snow storms are when moisture from theSouth overrides an in place cold front, lots of snow then. Usually melts within a few days.
Rarely have the daily little bit of snow like in much of NY.
Far Western MD would be more like NY.

I am from Utica, NY and live in Anne Aundel county and it is nothing like NY. I work for a college and they close if they call for a couple inches of snow. When they call for a storm the grocery stores are mobbed. It was just 95 degrees the other day here and it felt like 80 degrees in NY. The weather is not as extreme here as it is in NY.

Thanks! Your feedback is very helpful. I'm relieved to know that I don't have to worry about extreme weather.

Every few years there's a big snowstorm.

I was born and raised in Miami and can tell you that Maryland weather is nothing like FLA - with the exception of August. August here is worse than Florida because although both places have high humidity, it gets hotter up here. Temperatures in the high 90s or even the 100s is not unusual. But the rest of the summer is nicer with the added benefit of cooler nights than you have in Florida.

And of course, in Florida you have the humidity year round, whereas it is only a problem up here in the summer.

Garrett County and the western part of Allegany County (both in the Appalachian mountains) get a lot of snow. I doubt it compares to the snowiest places in Upstate NY, but it is still more enough to be a headache.

I am from northern NY and it is nothing like back home... snow normally doesn't stick around for more than a day or two.

Utica, NY doesn't have nearly the population density nor the traffic congestion that MD has. If it did, then you'd see the same thing. Also, upstate NY doesn't have the ice storms that this mid-atlantic region has.
