I definitely feel you....The people who wanna stay are here to stay...if you don't leave. But don't come back when Prince George's County is at the top in a few years. We dont need negativity. Let's think optimistic rather pessimistic.

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT MOVE INTO PG COUNTY UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SHOT IN THE FACE AND GET YOUR WALLET TAKEN! Montgomery county is much better, it's right next to PG county, and they have the Top third high school in the nation (Richard Montgomery HS)

So Savagekei05, let me ask you a question. If someone not from PG county goes to anywhere in the county does that mean that thye would get shot in the head? Areas like Laurel, Bowie and the nicer parts of PG. Answer that for me. Let me see if you have ANOTHER ignorant statement to make.

My husband and I have lived in PG County since 1978. There are good parts and not so good parts in which to live. I was a teacher and a semi-administrator (reading specialist/testing co-ordinator and grant person) in the county for 41 years (retired 3 years ago). I'd be happy to tell you more about the county and the school system. If you want further information you can private message me.

I have taught in PG county for 41 years--retired 3 years ago. My husband and I live in PG in Temple Hills/Camp Springs area--a once very nice area. My husband worked in Alexandria (college professor and administrator) and didn't want me to have to drive to VA when we first came (I got a job in PG and Montgomery, but chose PG since they offered me more etc.) here many years ago. We bought a home in PG. Our home is beautiful and in a relatively nice area. We are very close to the beltway and often shop and go to the theatre in Va or the District. We didn't move to Va since homes there were so expensive. There are really no good shopping areas in southern maryland. We shop and eat at restaurants in Va or DC. We are planning to move this coming spring to Conn. We have seen the county become more crime ridden and falling behind since we got here years ago. I loved the county when I began and things changed over the years. I wouldn't say that there aren't very nice areas in PG--Upper Marlboro, maybe Bowie, Laurel. If I were you, I would look into teaching in one of the other counties--Charles, Ann Arundal, or maybe in Virginia. I would be happy to discuss this privately with you if you'd like. Send a private message and I'll respond. I will be happy to discuss the school district with you.

I lived in this area in the 70's and was curious where did you live? We lived on Pumphrey Drive - are you familiar with that road?

I lived most of my life in PG Co. I'd chat with Cathyhrb if I were you. Before you make this move talk with someone with all of that inside experience and knowledge.
