Default FedEx Field

Hi,

I will be attending a concert at FedEx Field this weekend..we are staying at a hotel on hampton park blvd. After reading through some threads I thought I'd ask if this area is safe?It seems after reading through some posts that areas north of the stadium are the worst? If the area is that bad,I am considering selling my tickets. Thanks in advance.

Don't remember where Hampton Park Blvd is, but if it's outside the Beltway it's safe. Largo Town Center which is adjacent to Fed Ex Field is also pretty safe. So is nearby Mitchellville, Kettering etc. Avoid any place inside the Beltway though, particularly Landover.

I'm not sure what you mean by "outside of the beltway".The hotel is on central ave. It's right off the beltway and the stadium is about a mile away.

That area is not the best area, but I think you will be fine if you're driving to FedEx. Hampton Park blvd is south of the stadium, not north.

I believe the hotel is in or near Capitol Heights, near a shopping center on Central Avenue. I agree that's not the best area. Just be careful, and hopefully the hotel will have good overall security. I'll bet it does.

No. I am not scared of black people. I'm basing what I said on what I've read on this site.Which is why I started this thread.I've never been to the area and I don't care if they're black or white. If the area is that bad it's not worth risking my personal safety for a concert.

I'm glad you're not scared of black people because that's exactly what you will be surrounded by. That hotel and the area surrounding it is ok. There is an IHOP and several fast food places right in the same shopping center. The area is not that bad that you'll have to sell your ticket! You should be able to walk to the concert and be fine.

Thank you. I kind of figured the area was ok.I just want to make sure I'm not walking into something like north philly, which is a warzone. From what I've read on this site everbody makes that area seem the same way.

You answered exactly what I wanted to know. If the area is safe to walk to and from the stadium then that's all I needed to know. Thanks again.

Just an update. I'm not quite sure why everything I've read about this location is terrible, but we had absolutely no problems at all. It's fairly obvious to anyone with a half a brain that the area is full of WORKING CLASS people. I have a slight feeling that race played into it a little bit.
It's a shame because all of the locals we encountered we extremely polite and helpful.

Ps-Anyone who thinks this is a ghetto should come to camden nj sometime. Or better yet areas of north philly.
