Default Russett, Laurel/Maryland City

Hello everyone, I am wondering if anyone actually lives in that community/area that might shed some light on pros/cons. I work at Columbia gateway drive which is within 10 miles of the Russett community. I am looking to purchase within 10 miles or so from my work and so far I am most impressed with Russett and all it has to offer over other similar type communities such as those in Odenton. I am mid 20s, and this will be my first house (townhouse) purchase. It looks like my daily commute would consist on getting on 295 and goes two exits up to 175 (about 4 miles) and taking 175 all the way down to gateway drive in Columbia (another 4 miles). I am not very familiar with the traffic in that exact area but I assume it can't be that bad since the commute is relatively short. From what I understand Laurel has some bad stigma, however it seems to me that the are of Russett is pretty nice from my visit this weekend. One of the things that impressed me most about Russett is the fact that there is everything I'd ever need shopping wise right outside the development.

Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

- Alex

Can anyone point me in the right direction short of pulling people on the street of how to get more information about that particular community?

Russett is OK. Traffic at the intersection will be bad due to combo of shoppers + residents. Search in Columbia or Ellicott City or the part of Laurel located in Howard County.

By bad do you mean I'll be sitting at the intersection for 10 minutes? I'm open to those other areas you suggested but there isn't too much choice when looking for a garaged townhouse for under 350k.

Can you go 360k? Try Bowling Brook Farms, zip code 20723.

Yes, I see what you mean. Would you say that's a marginally better area? The townhouses are about 10 years older and slightly more expensive.

Personally I prefer howard county. And I also don't like too much congestion coming home.

Please , there are nice parts of Laurel in PG that are also nice. There`s the GLens of wellington by Laurel hospital. It`s a nice place. I`ve been here about 7 years in this country and gettign ready to build actually it is being built as we speak in that communtiy so stop hating. Could it be that all the people talking bad about Laurel couldn`t afford a house in that community? so then stop hating. In the next three to five years, mark my words, WATCH AND SEE what will happen to good ole Laurel. HAHA. If anything the schools are not that great but that`s it. no big hight crime area to me. Laurel isn`t really in the news at all. So check yuhself and come again.
