Bethesda - New Carrolton metro line approved. Living near light rail tracks? (lease)

So Governor O’Malley approved building a light rail metro line -purple line- to go from Bethesda to New Carrolton. I'm about to sign a long term lease for a place that I love but that'll be right next to the proposed light rail tracks. Would you live next to the tracks?

I responded to this in your original thread, but I'll reiterate it here. All O'Malley did was approve going to the federal government to request funding for construction of a light rail. Under a best-case scenario, the line will not be operational until 2015 so you don't have anything to worry about at this time.

My understanding of the Purple Line is that it's an idea that's been discussed for more than 20 years. I also understand that several of the affluent neighborhoods in the area have and have had attorneys working for them for the sole purpose of blocking and/or stalling efforts so that it never happens.

Light rail construction is extremely disruptive, even more so than subway. I wouldn't have much a problem living next to light rail vs metro since light rail tends to be much quieter, nothing like metro trains.

But you might think about what kinds of noise pollution and traffic disruption you will encounter during the years leading up to 2015.
