Interesting that you identify the county with the worst areas much like bigots identify Blacks and Hispanics by the worst elements in their communities.
Yes, and those areas are nowhere near the median income.

The undoing of PG can be attributed to the people that the citizens of PG put into office:

Jack Johnson taking overseas trips for "economic" purposes even during a down tax revenue year where the gov. workers are getting furloughed and laid off.

City Council members using county charge cards for personal use.

Albert Wynn leaving office early after losing in elections to Donna Edwards causing PG taxpayers to spend $2 mil for a special election for only 6 more months.

This is weak. You think I can't find a bunch of links outlining so called political cronyism in surrounding jurisdictions?

The fact of the matter is the county has been improving it's image ever since do nothing Glandening left office in the 90's. THAT IS A FACT!

It would be cool if you could find something of this magnitude...from top to bottom. Go for it.

With stories of "this magnitude" why has the bond rating increased? Why would Konterra National Harbor and other significant economic development be a reality?

This forum is filled with nonobjective people with agendas. You look it up or you continue to believe that is exclusive to Prince Georges County

I grew up in PG county (for the most part) from the 70's to mid eighties. I also wound up living on my families farm in rural Ohio for a year or two in between, so I went from suburban/rural/back to suburban.

First lived in Adelphi just a tick down the road from Adelphi Elementary School on Riggs Rd, then moved to Laurel/Montpelier area during High School years. My wife grew up in Adelphi- her dad was a prof at the Univ. of MD..

Although I have really fond memories of both, it's funny to hear some of the arguments that are tossed around today echo almost the same arguments about PG county that abounded 25 years ago. High crime, statistically poor(er) schools, yadda-yadda. Well- it was not a wise idea to hang out in Capitol Heights back then too

PG wasn't too bad back then, at least from my perspective. Don't really get back too much these days, but frankly when my wife and I got married, we bolted for the country, never looing back. Too much damned traffic!

I disagree, the whole MS-13/Latino gang explosion was a media driven phenomenon brought on by a few (albeit violent) murders in NOVA (pockets of PW and Fairfax County), Northern Prince George's County (Langley Park, pockets of Hyattsville) Montgomery County (Takoma Park, pockets of Silver Spring and Wheaton) and DC (Columbia Heights mostly) in order to force more strict regulation on illegal immigrants. Nothing more nothing less.

The majority of the MS-13 gang members (that are not serving life or double digit numbers in Federal Installations from RICO or far out conspiracy violations) are not a "threat" to the common layperson anyhow, the majority of the violent crime they committed was against other Hispanic gangs (Brown Pride/South Side Locos, 18th street gang, and a few other smaller groups). Unless you plan on getting jumped into the set within the next few months, you have nothing to worry about

MS-13 has killed 10 people in NOVA since 2000, and everyone of them were either MS-13 members of other gangbangers.

You have a better change of getting killed by a gold plated meteor than being jumped robbed or killed by MS-13 in the DC area.

Bond rating up, county workers getting furloughed and schools getting closed. Hmmm.

Still waiting for all the information you have that you said you can easily find.

If you have children I would just avoid the area pretty much altogether, its not worth it. But if you didnt have kids I would give it a shot. Even some closer places inside the beltway have some accpetable spots for living. But thats just my opinion, as I am Black and dont feel threatned even in the worse places in Landover.
